Drew Maloney joined Charleston Sentinel in 2026 after spending three years covering technology for the San Francisco Download, where he reported on everything from startup culture to Big Tech policy battles. Before his California years, Drew cut his teeth at newspapers in Atlanta, where he developed a lasting love for the Braves, Falcons, and Hawks that he'll happily discuss with anyone who asks. He holds a journalism degree from Georgia State University and believes local news is the backbone of informed communities. Drew relocated to Charleston to be closer to family and found a region ripe for the kind of thoughtful, accountability-driven coverage he's built his career on.
